Series 1 - 1948-1958

In 1948, inspired by the Willy's Jeep, the Land Rover Series 1 went into full production at the Solihull facility in England.

Because of a shortage of steel following World War 2, body shells were made from aluminim which was in plentiful supply. With improvements to engine power and wheelbase changes in the 1950's, the Series 1 maintained solid popularity, selling some 39,000 vehicles during it's production run.
